about
"Tünel" appears as a reflection of Istanbul's chaotic and at the same time nostalgic city life. “Tunnel” is nourished by the tension brought about by the problems faced by the worker and student society in daily life, and the limited perspective (tunnel vision) brought by the cycle formed by the solutions of these problems. Based on this feeling, the piece takes its name from the Beyoğlu Tünel region, one of the most important music centers in Istanbul, where I and many musicians both in Turkey and around the world are nourished materially and spiritually.
The piece starts with the real sounds of the Taksim Tunnel region and starts with choral vocals that sound like an old ritual. Then, the fretless guitar takes place as a dramatic narrator in the loop created by the electric guitar and the double bass. Meanwhile, the ambiance created by the dark and chaotic sound design in this whole loop reminds and describes the city and the noises swirling in our heads.
